Down syndrome (DS) also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. Most often those with DS have physical and intellectual disabilities. Their mental abilities are typically similar to those of an 8 or 9-year-old and often associated with potential health problems.
Only few people with Down Syndrome are able to sing. However, a 12-year-old girl named Madison Tevlin is defying all odds to inspire everyone. Given the fact that she has a Down Syndrome, Madison won’t let challenges get in the way of her dreams, she keeps on singing and she’s amazing!
Meet Madison Tevlin the girl with Down Syndrome who wants to inspire everyone.
People with DS typically have voices that are low-pitched and use twice the vocal energy (microvolts) to produce sound to speak. Madison have to work on vocal techniques to improve the range and tones in her voice.
Despite having a sinus infection during the recording, she was determined not to let everyone down. Her dedication and passion in singing makes her an impressive person.

It isn’t about being “good” or “bad” it’s all about passion and dedication, about being a better person despite of having disability or something. This is a story that will not only inspire those with Down Syndrome but also those who are complete and normal. I’m sure this girl will get better and better in singing, just continue your dream. Let us all remember “Down syndrome is only part of who a person is, it does not define that person.”
