The home of the legendary musician, Freddie Aguilar in Quezon City was gutted by fire on the second day of 2018.

According to the reports, the fire started from the ceiling of Aguilar’s music room on the first floor of their residence in North Fairview Quezon City at about 11 p.m.

Aguilar’s son first notices the fire in the ceiling and alerted the people in the house including Freddie’s pregnant wife, Jovie, who is on the second floor.

Jovie and Aguilar’s son was able to escape using the balcony to climb to their roof, and eventually make it to their neighbor’s roof.

Fortunately, no one was reportedly hurt and the fire was declared out at 11:39 p.m. but the damages caused by the fire could cost from P13 to P15 million.

Among that was burn was Aguilar’s collection of record labels, awards, guitars, and art collections which he intended on passing it on as priceless heirlooms to his grandchildren.

Despite the incident, he is grateful that no lives were compromised in said fire, the veteran singer couldn’t help but mourn for the property and possessions that were slowly gathered, collected, and cared for across the years.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is exploring two possible triggers for the fire: electrical system overloading and pipe leakage that may have caused water to come in contact with the house’s electrical wiring system.

Aguilar was at a bar in Tomas Morato when the incident happened.
